The name Detheory is a metaphor for the fact that good technology is just as much about design as it is about development. That technology is meaningless unless it is deployed in an environment that will allow it to thrive. And that technology is really all about bringing together all of these "de" words to derive value: creating an explicit and material impact on the bottom line.

The name Detheory is a symbol for the fact that a good partner can't rely merely on high end technical theory alone if it is to create anything of significance. That a good business partner wont try to steer you towards adopting the latest theoretical framework when simplicity is in order (while at the same time, wont get stuck in the theories accepted by the masses when tight, dedicated innovation is required). Its a symbol for the philosophy that a good business partner will relate things to you, so that you can understand how they fit with your business in a realistic way.

The name Detheory is a simplification of meanings. In french, "de" would tell you that we are a company that is about the fundamental values and theoretical foundations of our practice. While in latin, "de" would tell you that we aren't afraid to play outside of the status quo, pushing aside common wisdom while we champion brave new innovations in thoughtfully calculated environments. But in english, "we" would tell you that we simplify things.
